Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement

The Jurnal Sains Terapan Pariwisata (JSTP) is a professionally managed academic journal published by Politeknik Sahid, upholding the highest standards of copyright, privacy, and scientific publication ethics. Each article published focuses on the fields of tourism, gastronomy, and hospitality. The manuscripts are written by competent authors in their respective disciplines and are derived from scholarly studies or research findings. Every article embodies values of novelty, originality, and usefulness.

To enhance the quality of the journal and the professionalism of authors, editors, reviewers, and journal managers, the JSTP Scientific Publication Ethics has been established. This code of ethics aims to prevent malpractice in journal publication and to ensure protection against copyright violations such as duplication, fabrication, falsification, and plagiarism.

This journal is committed to maintaining the highest standards of publication ethics and academic integrity. This Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement is based on the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) Core Practices and outlines the standards expected of authors, editors, and reviewers involved in the publication process.

1. Reporting Standards: Authors must report their research processes and findings honestly, clearly, precisely, accurately, comprehensively, and objectively, while maintaining complete records of their research data. Authors are expected to uphold integrity in presenting all data and information contained within their manuscripts and research results.
2. Originality & Plagiarism: Authors must declare that the submitted manuscript is original, derived from their own ideas, and has not been previously submitted or published in any media, in any language, nor is it under consideration by another publisher. In cases of duplicate publication or fraudulent submission, authors agree that their articles will be withdrawn from this journal.
3. Multiple, Redundant, or Concurrent Publications: Authors should not submit the same manuscript to more than one journal concurrently. Submitting redundant manuscripts or describing the same research in multiple publications constitutes unethical behavior and is unacceptable.
4. Acknowledgement of Sources: Authors must ensure that all references and sources cited in the text and listed in the bibliography are complete and clearly stated. It is strictly prohibited to quote or use the work of others without proper citation of the original source.
5. Authorship Criteria & Contributorship: Authorship must accurately reflect individuals' contributions to the work. All listed authors must meet four criteria: (1) substantial contribution to research design, data acquisition, or analysis; (2) drafting or critically revising the manuscript; (3) final approval of the published version; and (4) accountability for all aspects of the work. Ghost, guest, and gift authorship are strictly prohibited. Non-substantive contributors should be acknowledged in the acknowledgments section.
6. Responsibility: Authors bear full responsibility for the data and research results presented, including methodology, analysis, calculations, and details. Authors must respond promptly, clearly, and truthfully to verification requests from editors or reviewers.
7. Timeliness: Authors are expected to revise their manuscripts promptly following the review and editing process to maintain the journal’s publication schedule. Failure to meet deadlines may result in postponement of publication.
8. Hazards and Human or Animal Subjects: Authors should clearly identify in the manuscript if the work involves chemicals, procedures, or equipment with inherent unusual hazards, ensuring proper ethical clearances and consents are secured.
9. Disclosure of Conflicts of Interest: Authors must disclose any financial, professional, personal, or institutional conflicts of interest that might influence the research outcomes. All funding sources and grant numbers must be explicitly declared.

1. Publication Decisions: Editors determine manuscript acceptance based on editorial board and peer review reports. Decisions are driven by manuscript validity and scientific significance, constrained by legal standards concerning libel, copyright infringement, and plagiarism.
2. Review of Manuscripts: Editors ensure initial manuscript evaluation for originality and scope, organizing peer review fairly by selecting reviewers with appropriate expertise and avoiding conflicts of interest.
3. Fair Play & Neutrality: Editors evaluate intellectual content without bias regarding gender, race, religion, citizenship, ethnic origin, or political philosophy of the authors, upholding editorial independence.
4. Confidentiality: Editors must keep all details of submitted manuscripts strictly confidential, protecting data and obtaining proper consent where required.
5. Handling Allegations of Misconduct: When misconduct allegations arise (plagiarism, fabrication, falsification, duplicate submission), editors follow COPE Flowcharts to conduct objective investigations and apply appropriate measures (rejection, correction, retraction, or institutional notification).
6. Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest: Editors will not use unpublished material for their own research without explicit written author consent and must recuse themselves from decisions involving competing interests.

1. Neutrality & Objectivity: Reviewers must evaluate manuscripts objectively and independently based purely on scientific merit, providing constructive feedback with clear supporting arguments.
2. Confidentiality: Manuscripts received for review must be treated as privileged documents and kept strictly confidential.
3. Acknowledgement of Sources: Reviewers must identify uncited relevant work and immediately notify the editor of any substantial similarities, ethical concerns, or suspected misconduct without conducting personal investigations.
4. Promptness: Reviewers should accept invitations only if they are confident in completing the evaluation within agreed timeframes, notifying the editor promptly if an extension is required.
5. Disclosure and Conflict of Interest: Information obtained during peer review must not be used for personal gain. Reviewers must recuse themselves from evaluating manuscripts where competitive or collaborative conflicts of interest exist.

1. Decision-Making & Independence: Managers maintain the publication vision aligned with the Research and Community Service Center (P3M) of Politeknik Sahid, granting editors full independence free from institutional or business bias.
2. Ethical Governance & Responsibility: Managers establish policy guidelines, copyright protections, and ethical standards (including ethical clearance for research involving humans/animals).
3. Promotion & Sustainability: Managers oversee journal promotion, funding transparency, and operational sustainability without influencing scientific outcomes.
4. Disclosure of Conflicts of Interest: Managers uphold copyright and privacy rights, resolving any conflicts of interest fairly and transparently.

To ensure long-term availability, preservation, and accessibility of published scholarly work, this journal maintains the following electronic policies:

• Digital Archiving: Articles are permanently preserved in digital repositories such as PKP PN, LOCKSS, CLOCKSS, or Portico.
• Self-Archiving Policy: Authors retain the right to archive pre-print, post-print, or published versions in institutional/subject repositories in compliance with open-access policies.
• Persistent Identifiers: Every published article receives a unique Digital Object Identifier (DOI) for permanent linking and citation stability.

1. Post-Publication Discussions: The journal welcomes scholarly critique and dialogue. Letters to the Editor and comments are peer-reviewed, and original authors are invited to respond.
2. Corrections (Erratum / Corrigendum):
   • Erratum: Issued for errors introduced by the publisher during production.
   • Corrigendum: Issued for author errors that affect accuracy without invalidating overall findings.
3. Retractions: Articles are retracted in cases of unreliable findings, fabrication, falsification, plagiarism, or ethical breaches. A formal Notice of Retraction will be issued, and the original article PDF will remain online prominently watermarked as "RETRACTED".
